Food Pairing 101

This week’s posts features all food!I thought we’d kick things off with an introduction to food pairing. We have different regional traditions (for example peanut butter being a distinctly American food), cultural cuisines and our individual tastes, but it’s never too late to try something new.

Food is a great way to experience a different culture from the comfort of your own home. Start with some basics and work your way through bolder choices if you dare. Go to a cooking demonstration, watch a travel show that features a local meal. Attend a Meet-Up Group. It’s a wonderful way to make new friends.

  1. One of the best things that my husband introduced me to is wine pairing concepts and how to pair certain food flavors. I was fairly clueless regarding food combos and what to drink along with it. Now I'm fairly good at creating menus from scratch, that harmoniously flow from the appetizers to the main course to the dessert.

  2. I love! I've met many people through there but most importantly, I've been able to practice my social graces through joining Brunch groups, dinner groups, even Happy Hour groups. I can't go right now since I'm rehabbing from an injury but those groups were really an eyeopener and a help for me.
