Beauty Is As Beauty Does

**Update November 28 There was a change to the contest. It’s been extended through November 30th. You still have time to enter. **

I just re-read my post Femme Time Is Power and applaud my own personal transformation after a) getting rid of 70 lbs. and b) touching the stillness via yoga and meditation. My self-image has soared dramatically this year as I’ve embraced my femininity. I’m looking forward to reaping the benefits throughout 2012 and beyond from sustaining this new attitude and lifestyle adjustment.

After spending time reevaluating thoughts that may not benefit you or in adopting new habits, do you feel more confident, womanly or even ‘stronger’ as you’re more secure within? The personal is political, but perfection is not the focus here. It’s acceptance, admiration and affection for yourself and other women.

Taking charge of our self-image can transform us into empowered women. The mind/body connection is key. Eating wholesome foods, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly and surrounding ourselves with supportive people makes a huge difference.

Having a perfume that compliments, wearing flattering clothes and being well-groomed helps us put our best foot forward. Artful makeup application is another part of our beauty arsenal. I recently tried bareMinerals READY™ Eyeshadow 2.0 in “The Inspiration,” made up of Muse + Passion.

Muse is a frosted pale pink that has a soft finish. This is a great neutral I imagine works well with all skin tones, but it makes for a nice contrast against brown skin. It has just the right amount of shimmer without turning too white or chalky when lightly applied with an eyeshadow brush.  It works well for a daytime look where you want a hint of color to open up your eyes.

Passion is the deeper pigmented brown-hued burgundy shade that also has a hint of gold shimmer. The neutral palette is luminescent enough to be able to transition from a day to evening look with a deeper application and change of lip color. I’d wear this shade without the highlighter if I wanted to go for a more sophisticated look as well. You can mix and match with eyeliner, lipstick/gloss and mascara to create a signature look that brings out your inner beauty to match!
